About Us
The department of English was established at North Campus in 2012. Apart from teaching, the faculty has commendable achievements in the research. They have been publishing and presenting research papers in standard refereed journals and seminars. In fact, the faculty has authored and edited several books. The research work of the faculty ranges from translation, psychoanalysis, subaltern literatures, postcolonial literature, comparative literature, media, gender, ELT, and creative writing. The department intends to publish a standard refereed annual Journal of English Language and Literature very shortly. One of the teachers of the department has even to his credit a UGC Sponsored Major Research Project. The department is proposing to offer part-time / self-finance programmes right from Certificate Course to the advanced Diploma Programme in Spoken English and Translation Studies. The Campus in general and the Department in particular provides very hospitable environment for every kind of research especially interdisciplinary and it has proposed to open in near future with the financial support from various national and international agencies following Centres: a.) Centre for New Literatures b.) Interdisciplinary Research Centre c.) Advanced Translation Centre and d.) Centre for ELT Studie The department welcomes scholars and researchers for innovative, intense and productive academic interaction on these scenic heights which are a true replica of Tagore’s Shantinikatan. Research scholars would definitely find here an idyllic, serene, stimulating and supportive environment. The department promises to emerge as one of best centres of English Studies in the years to come for the people believe here in hard work, dedication and devotion.
